YOUTH FAITH FORMATION

High Sea’s Expedition - click the photo to see the 2010 Vacation Bible School group!

ATTENTION:  Registration forms and class schedules for the 2010-2011Youth Faith Formation year at St. James Catholic Church will available online and in the parish hall starting in June!   We offer 3 options that aim to meet the needs of our parish youth and their families.

  1. We hold weekly classes for kindergarten through fifth grade on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30pm at Boonsboro Elementary School starting September 13, 2010. We utilize the Call the Faith Series by Our Sunday Visitor.   New 2010-11 Schedule

  2. We hold bi-monthly classes for 6-8th grade students on Sunday evenings from 4-6pm at St. James utilizing the EDGE curriculum. *Note this time and day is new this year! Due to the many demands on youth who actively participate in afterschool activities and sports an alternative time has been selected to accommodate our youth.  New 2010-11 Schedule

  3. We offer the home study option for all grades K-8 utilizing the Call to Faith Series by Our Sunday Visitor.  Parent support meetings are scheduled throughout the year to offer resources and a time to check-in.   New 2010-11 Schedule

2010-11 Registration forms are available.  If you have any questions, please contact Brigitte Schmidt in the parish office.

Youth Faith Formation

Mission Statement - Saint James Youth Faith Formation, in partnership with families, strives to help children and youth develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Through the evangelizing community active discipleship is promoted by way of sharing knowledge of the faith, prayer and worship, moral formation, and service.  St. James seeks to foster full and active participation by our young people in Sunday prayer and worship, in turn strengthened and nourished by Eucharist to “go out” and live a Christian life of love and service in the world.

Basic Goals - Religious Education is a very necessary part of every child’s ongoing faith formation.  Saint James YFF believes that in today’s world, with its many moral problems and difficult decisions to be made, that children and youth need all the guidance they can get to develop into strong active Catholics.  With daily support and examples of Christian discipleship by parents and families as a basis for faith formation, St. James is blessed with Catechists who are committed volunteers, partnering with our parents, to educate our children and youth in the teachings and practices of the Catholic faith.
